FullCalendar integrated with APEX

FullCalendar, by Adam Shaw, is an excellent JavaScript based calendar published under both MIT and GPL licenses. The SkillBuilders Calendar plug-in allows this calendar to be easily integrated into APEX. When coupled with the SkillBuilders Schedule plug-in, you can create a rich and complete calendaring system in your APEX applications. Look for both plug-ins to continue to evolve, offering more options and better integration along the way.

Features at a Glance

  1. FullCalendar in APEX
  2. Region source query allows for drill downs and CSS styling of events (by class)

by Bianca Stan
on April 8, 2014
Hi,

I am using this plugin in order to be able to display events on multiple days.

The issue I have is the the page I created using this plugin is not reading date from the table, while SQL query works ok when I run it in Apex SQL Developer.

Any hint/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Bianca

Calendar qTip
by Sam Payne
on May 22, 2013
Has anyone managed to include the qTip plugin with this? If so how?

There are lots of examples which aren't apex based!

With regards to Matt:
I did this with a date picker and hide the form element of it.

Then I set the date picker to show 6 months in the format of [6,1]

Is there a way to show a list of calendars in a left region then allowing the user to select which calenders are turned on or off?

So, multiple calendar events show with diff colors all within the same calendar window.

configuration - start and end date items
by Simon Bacon
on January 23, 2013
I've posted before, but thanks again Dan - this plugin is great. I work in local government, and have used your calendar as the basis of a booking system for the cemeteries and crematorium for which my organisation is responsible.

We've been live for a few months, but were starting to notice some performance issues. Part of the problem seems to have been that I didn't configure the plugin correctly in the first place, so thought I'd share my experience.

Apologies if the following is obvious, but it wasn't clear (to me anyway) from the documentation. You need to configure the plugin so that whenever it refreshes, it pulls from the database only the records it needs for the current display. The documentation mentions that you can specify start and end dates (in your calendar region attributes). You need to create page items to hold the current values of course, but what I missed was that you need to refer to them in the where clause of your query, eg:

SELECT id,
title AS title,
'false' AS all_day,
TO_CHAR(start_date, 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SS') AS start_date,
TO_CHAR(end_date, 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SS') AS end_date,
NULL AS url,
NULL AS class_name
FROM events
WHERE trunc(start_date) BETWEEN :P1_DISPLAY_START and :P1_DISPLAY_END

Before I fixed this, my browser was fetching nearly 1Mb (and climbing as records are added) from the db every time I refreshed the week view. Now it's about 32Kb for a typical week's bookings. That's a big performance improvement, particularly for users at our more distant sites which have very poor bandwidth.

Hope this helps someone,

Simon
