Don't miss out on your display values!

** UPDATE **

Hi guys!

Thanks for your comments and feedback!

Update version 2.2:

  • Fixed display issue in APEX 5-Universal Theme
  • Value can be set with DA (only with js-expression for now)
  • Downloadable insallation file updated

2nd release with server-side quick-search and cascading parent items

Release 2.1 with minor fixes:

1) css, so that the dropdown list is displayed properly, when the  item is renderd in a hidden area

2) User-Enhancement: when you press a key in the display field, the list opens automatically and quicksearch (if enabled) is startetdirectly

In production you often have to use lists with restrictions (sql where-clause): validity date, various filters, etc..., leading to outdated or otherwise invalid data relations, because those restrictions can sometimes change.

Now, when you have a record refering to a value in list where the restriction has changed, that value cannot be displayed properly anymore in a standard APEX-LOV.

Here this plugin steps in: It has a normal LOV-definition that builds the select list and a second select statement that provides - being the case - the missing value to be displayed. (So it's "friendlier" than a normal select list item.)

The user gets a predefined notification and depending on the settings he must change the value or leave it as be. Only, the "outdated" or otherwise invalid value cannot be reselected.

 Additional Features

Additionally an (optionally enabled) quick search text input filter can narrow the select list and highlights the search-term in the list.

New in release 2: Depending on the length of the list you can choose between search and filter client- or server-side! In the later case an AJAX-request is preformed to update the selection on the server and send it back to your page.

Also cascading parent items can now be specified for dynamic refresh of the list (without page submit), if other elements (other select list, radio buttons, etc.) should determine the selection.

The list can - like a regular html select list - be navigated with arrow-keys and Enter-key.

Please see the demo including documentation and refer to item plugin-setting help texts for further ample explanations.

Javascript accessibility

The javascript object has two buildin custom events to disable/enable the item functionalities at runtime via javascript, toggeling a "readonly"-mode. Also it is accessible via the data-attribute of the item-DOM-element.

For more information please see demo and documentation.

How to Upgrade?

Simply install the plugin file again and comfirm to overwrite the previous version. All items using this plugin will be updated automatically!
