Google authentication

Hi,
If the only auth I am interested in is Google, is it still recommended to do the reverse proxy on web server? I don't have access to our web server as a developer in a workspace so I want to avoid having to do anything at that level. We do have an Oracle Wallet on our Weblogic server.
Also, can Oauth2 api access Google Group membership? I would like to use Google Groups for authorization.
Thanks for this contribution!
Pat
