Facebook Authentication Plugin Tweet
Login users through their Facebook accountAuthentication in business applications is mostly routed over the company SSO-Server or LDAP, smaller applications also might use the integrated APEX user directory.
Internet facing applications which try to attract a big crowd won't be able to use SSO or LDAP, simply because of the unknown number of end users. Current trends also go against creating new user profiles on every platform and go towards authentication providers like Google or Facebook.
The solution here is the OAuth protocol which is implemented by providers like Google and Facebook. Using OAuth the application asks the OAuth provider to authenticate the user credentials and get a OK or NOK back in return.
What sounds a bit technical is very easy to use for end-users. They simply enter their Facebook/Google login to enter your application.
To make things easier for you we encapsulated the whole OAuth process in an APEX Authentication plugin. All you need to do is import that plugin into your application and activate the new authentication scheme. From there on your users can log in with their Google or Facebook credentials.
Need to allow (configure Listener, mod_plsql, ...) a function to be called as callback via URL
Facebook, OAuth, Authentication

yes, this solution works with all 3 web listeners (EPG, mod_plsql, APEX Listener).
but can it be used on epg?
don't worry about your privacy, you can specify in the pluggin-settings which information should be returned. Depending on your application needs this can be more or less.
I can understand wanting to grab an email address, but that's as far as it goes. I tried the demo and didn't let it authenticate me because I didn't want to share my friends list.
